Why We Believe in the 2KLearning Products

I know you are probably tired of hearing about 2KLearning, our innovative, hands-on approach to helping middle school kids to become passionate about engineering and learning but…with only a few more days left in our Kickstarter campaign, we are way behind. And need your help.

Not like Exploding Kittens which has broken every Kickstarter record…ever.

So to help convince you that today is the day to back us, here is a little bit more on why we are passionate about what we think we can achieve with our project. Hopefully this will help convince you to back our project.

It does give a little more to humanity that “Exploding Kittens”…we are helping educate kids for future success. We are advancing learning, we are igniting a spark of passion in learners.

Today we answer the question…Why are you passionate about education?

It is hard not to be passionate about helping children learn when you watch them discover new information while moving from struggling to understanding. The “a-ha” look a student gets when the pieces finally come together is amazing, inspiring and triumphant. People in third-world countries are being killed because of their desire to learn, to be educated and to experience opportunities that come from discovery.

Yet, in the United States, learning has been boxed into scantron testing to “prove” competence and has been confined to the four walls of the classroom with memorization of content as the primary goal. It doesn’t have to be this way. It wasn’t always this way.

For centuries people learned by conducting simple experiments (if I drop an apple and a rock…what happens?) and by trying things out through hands-on learning. They studied a subject from multiple angles and overcame obstacles on their way to a larger goal.

We believe children learn when multiple senses are engaged, curiosity is aroused and meaningful, directive feedback is provided. They learn through hands-on learning and multiple experiences with the same content…not by memorizing terms or phrases for a test or by applying a formula that seems distant from any real world application.

We are passionate about education because we believe that with the Play/Make approach the excitement of learning will return, curiosity will be aroused and genuine exploration will occur. When students experiment, work on concepts outside of class and become passionate about learning they will continue through their lives to seek a-ha moments. They will discover new energies, new technologies, new ways of solving problems that face them and their children. That’s why we are passionate about education.

This is why we ask you to contribute to our Kickstarter program today. Just click here and begin to help us bring the Play/Make approach into the classroom.
