Speaking a CSTD Conference

This week I am visiting Canada to speak at the Canadian Society of Training and Development (CSTD) Conference

I am doing two sessions and a book signing:

1:00 pm – 1:50 pm
Role of Games and Simulations in Learning–where I will provide insights into the research that impacts games and simulations. What does the research say about games and simulations and what guidelines can be developed based on sound academic research for the development of games and simulations (I’ve got 8 or so good ones.) This will be an interactive session…I’ll ask attendees what they think and then provide the research to see if their opinions were correct or if they need adjustment.

11:45 am – 1:00 pm
Virtual Immersive Environments

If you’ve heard the hype about the 3D immersive internet, but aren’t sure what to do about it, this session will describe how organizations are using Virtual Immersive Environments (VIEs) to encourage learning and collaboration. Discover how classic instructional design techniques are used to craft learning environments which are engaging, educational and impactful. Learn the right instructional strategies for 3D learning environments.

Learning Outcomes:
1. The seven sensibilities that differentiate Virtual Immersive Environments from other forms of educational and social media.
2. How organizations such as IBM, Ernst and Young and BP have leveraged Virtual Immersive Environments to improve organizational performance.
3. Identify the learning opportunities in your organization that will benefit the most from 3D virtual immersive environments.
4. The elements of the 3D learning archetype model that are a foundation for creating realistic and engaging 3D learning environments.

If you are at the conference, please stop by I’d love to meet you!
