CAC Presentations
Dr. Phillips kicked off the CAC this year with introductions and advice for attendees.
The first presentation this semester is by Robyn Defelice who is discussing project management and the elements that contribute to effectively managing a project.

The CAC event is packed, with a full house.
Chris Reichart from iFormBuilder spoke about capturing data with mobile devices and gave everyone an iPod Touch (but only to borrow for the conference). He demonstrated a number of forms that he’s created which were a lot of fun and interesting to see a practical use of mobile devices.
Connie Malamed, the author of the widely read The eLearning Coach spoke about graphic design and thinking visually from the perspective of an instructional designer. Connie provided insightful information about the topic of visual design: She mentioned the trait of color to show difference, size, depth, and the reduction of realism.
She showed many examples to bring home her points and to emphasize what she was saying and discussed how emotional graphics, capture attention, evoke a visceral reaction, increase brain activity and make it memorable.

Jay Kellet of TestTrack LMS presented on choosing an LMS.
He started with how NOT to choose an LMS. Here is his list:
-Don’t pick the LMS just because it has the most features
-The one with the highest price (not always the best)
-The one with the lowest price (assuming all LMSs are the same)
-The one that bolts on to an existing system
-The one we build ourselves
-Choose the one where the sales person always says “Yes”
-The one that helped you build the RFP (column A advantage
Mark Burke of viaAcademies discussed entrepreneurship. What it is about and how entrepreneurs are created. He talked about his time as a student in the department in instructional technology and working for the institute for interactive technologies lead him to be an entrepreneur.

David Weatherbee presented the organization Thermal and described digital technology and discussed new technology, gadgets and the IPG Emerging media lab. He then talked about some of the cool things they’ve been doing with a number of projects including augmented reality and showed an awesome demonstration.
