I can’t stand any of the vocabulary that has been created solely because of Twitter. Examples: Tweet, Tweeps, Tweetback, Retweet, Twirting, Tweetjacking, and the list goes on and on. I would also list instructional design buzzwords like “robust”, “efficient”, “effective”, “value added” and many others.
I didnt realize how often these phrases are used. Now that it has been brought to my attention, a lot of these phrases are extremely annoying. I can say it really annonys me when Im researching a topic and information online is limited and when I think that I found the perfect resource, I get a message saying “Page not found” or “404 error”. I am in instructional technology and for some reason, people often call me (someone who has very basic skills to fix computers)with very hard questions. For instrance, I had a friend who couldn’t figure out why the computer would allow them access to the internet. It is hard for me to solve this sort of problem because I am not there. Anyway I asked them to check their internet cable. They said to me its in the hard drive. For a long time I didn’t understand what they meant by the “the internet cable is in the hard drive”. It wasnt until about an hour into talking to them, that I realized that they were talking about the router.

2. This will change everything.
1. It’s not about the technology.

“What’s your take on all this?”
Hi Karl,
This is a really great top ten list, I can’t wait to see the rest of it when it’s completed. I can’t come up with any good phrases right now. #6 is my favorite, Twitter is great but sometimes annoying. You can post this to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and then link back to your site. We are looking for top ten lists and our users can track back to your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.
“Guru” is my number 1!!!!
LOL! Good ones!
(2) “Your call is important to us.”
(1) “Please listen carefully. Our menu has changed.”
Jane: I usually figure the BlackBerry line is a default, though I wish folks would consider “sent from my phone.” Would you say “I parked my 2009 GM Hypotenuse?” or “my car?”
“My company blocks ____________.” Get a web-enabled phone, then, for Pete’s sake. Or start lobbying for change.
In my own defense: I use the “sent from my iPhone” sig line in hopes people will realize I’m typing on my phone and not take umbrage if my replies are brief. Plus maybe I can move them away from using email altogether…
“Text me your phone number.”
Hmm…why not just CALL me and I’ll automatically have your number???
How about “Page cannot be displayed”? I just got that one. Or really any sentence with the word SCORM in it.
The network’s down…
