Gamification of Learning Lynda.com Course Released
Last summer I spent a week at Lynda.com headquarters and had a great time recording the course “The Gamification of Learning.” You can read about the experience here–My Adventure at Lynda.com. And now the course is live and being seen all over the globe (73 countries to date).
Recording the course was a wonderful experience and allowed me to reach a large number of people with the course content. To date the course has been seen by over 1,850 people. If you know my work in gamification, you know the focus of the course is on the engaging elements of games such as story, feedback and interactivity.
My blogging about the trip created an interesting interview and subsquent blog posting at the Lynda.com article center. The article titled Visit to lynda.com Studios Surprises First-Time Author outlines some of the really cool experiences I had creating the comprehensive course.
The trip also drew some interest at Bloomsburg University where I teach graduate course. At the university we’ve been using Lynda.com for years so it was great to be a part of something that our students use on a regular basis. So the school sent a journalism student, Sean Williams, to write a short article on my trip. He did a wonderful job even contacting some folks at Lynda.com to get both sides of the story. Here is a link to the article Spending Time with Lynda.
The team at Lynda.com carefully integrated game elements and B-roll video into the course to make it entertaining as well as educational to watch. Here is an example, as I am talking about constructing and building within games, the team is showing the classic game Mouse Trap.
So if you have a subscription to Lynda.com, check out the course “Gamification of Learning.” If you don’t you can still check it out and sign up for all the wonderful courses at Lynda.com using my special code (yes they game me a special link). Go here an it will give you free access to the course for 7 days and to all the other great Lynda.com content but for only $25 a month, it’s a great investment and I’m working on even more exciting courses so stay tuned.
